Connecting: Healing Ourselves and Our Relationships

Connecting: Healing Ourselves and Our Relationships

In his most significant book to date, Dr. Larry Crabb expands on his lifelong work in the field of psychotherapy to adopt a groundbreaking, but biblical, approach to healing the deep wounds of the soul-an approach that centers around building intimate, healing mini-communities in our lives and churches.
Dr. Crabb envisions a day when communities of God's people-ordinary Christians whose lives connect as husband to wife, brother to sister, friend to friend-will accomplish most of the healing that we now depend on mental health professionals to provide.
God has deposited within us the power to heal soul-disease and that power is released to do its work as we relate to each other in revolutionary new ways. In challenging, practical language, Dr. Crabb shows us how.
This revised and updated edition now includes a full workbook for those who want to better learn how to connect with the hearts and souls of those around them.

Yesterday we had a very impressive thunderstorm. Unfortunately, despite surge protectors, phone line protectors etc. it took out my modem (3rd one so far!!) & router and wireless AP. I managed to fix every thing from my 'box of bits' and thought that the back of my workstation merited a picture. Quite unbelievable really - and this is the tidy version. Thanks to my brother Paul for reminding me about fixed IP, DHCP and IP ranges...........ARGHHHH!!

The Art of Connecting: How to Overcome Differences, Build Rapport, and Communicate Effectively with Anyone

"In an increasingly diverse workplace, it's more important and challenging than ever to communicate well. We must build bridges that cross our differences to connect our similarities. The Art of Connecting reveals five core principles and presents corresponding, specific strategies for overcoming communications barriers and connecting effectively with anyone, regardless of professional, generational, ethnic, cultural, or other differences. The authors also explain how the most skillful connectors are able to shift perspectives -- to see a situation from three points of view: "me," "you," and "them." All of the principles and strategies are brought to life through absorbing examples and scenarios, plus engaging descriptions of "masters of connection" -- like famed National Public Radio interviewer Terry Gross -- doing what they do. There is always a bridge. The Art of Connecting shows how to find it -- every time."

i can has wifi?!

i can has wifi?!

I'm sorry today's upload is so boring (I snapped it in 5 min and need to go to bed) but you know what's amazing? That it's uploaded at all!

I was up until 2 am last night wrestling with Linksys EasyLink Advisor because it refused to acknowledge our router. A techie friend of mine stayed up to provide advice and moral support. We tried everything we could think of and I must have restarted my compie at least 10x, but alas I went to bed defeated and frustrated beyond belief. I spent all of today away from home so I could get wireless and only recently returned to give it one more shot. At first, the router resisted, but finally we won!

It is a bit sad how dependent I and my apt-mates are upon an internet connection. Today's photo is b&w because that is almost what living w/out wifi is like: colorless! Of course, it's an exaggeration, but still tinged with truth.

[ed. I know this isn't the most interesting photo - how would you have done it differently to Make it interesting?]

Comments/advice/suggestions for improvement are most welcomed!

Nothing special at all today. Installed a new router. I'd been living pretty oldschool in the wireless department with my trusty, several year old Linksys Wireless-B router. I know, right? Pretty antiquated. So I made the jump two generations of wireless technology ahead for a pretty interesting reason.

The missus and I got rid of cable. Television is pretty much trash right now, and neither of us can tolerate all the same old shows using the same tired formulas. We're going to be watching stuff we're actually interested in via Netflix and the internet. The router comes into play because I tried to stream Netflix via my Xbox 360 a while ago, but my Wireless signal wasn't strong enough to provide a good connection and the quality wasn't the best.

Well now we can do all the streaming we want and we're pretty happy to be rid of all the utter crap that's on television these days.
