Connecting: Healing Ourselves and Our Relationships
In his most significant book to date, Dr. Larry Crabb expands on his lifelong work in the field of psychotherapy to adopt a groundbreaking, but biblical, approach to healing the deep wounds of the soul-an approach that centers around building intimate, healing mini-communities in our lives and churches.
Dr. Crabb envisions a day when communities of God's people-ordinary Christians whose lives connect as husband to wife, brother to sister, friend to friend-will accomplish most of the healing that we now depend on mental health professionals to provide.
God has deposited within us the power to heal soul-disease and that power is released to do its work as we relate to each other in revolutionary new ways. In challenging, practical language, Dr. Crabb shows us how.
This revised and updated edition now includes a full workbook for those who want to better learn how to connect with the hearts and souls of those around them.
Yesterday we had a very impressive thunderstorm. Unfortunately, despite surge protectors, phone line protectors etc. it took out my modem (3rd one so far!!) & router and wireless AP. I managed to fix every thing from my 'box of bits' and thought that the back of my workstation merited a picture. Quite unbelievable really - and this is the tidy version. Thanks to my brother Paul for reminding me about fixed IP, DHCP and IP ranges...........ARGHHHH!!
Here is my Apple 17" Studio Display which is currently connected to my sleeper system through the Apple ADC to DVI adapter, 26" Vizio TV, Compaq 7550 CRT display, Dell Entry Keyboard, and Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 6000. I also use a nice piece of leather for a mousepad.

"In an increasingly diverse workplace, it's more important and challenging than ever to communicate well. We must build bridges that cross our differences to connect our similarities. The Art of Connecting reveals five core principles and presents corresponding, specific strategies for overcoming communications barriers and connecting effectively with anyone, regardless of professional, generational, ethnic, cultural, or other differences. The authors also explain how the most skillful connectors are able to shift perspectives -- to see a situation from three points of view: "me," "you," and "them." All of the principles and strategies are brought to life through absorbing examples and scenarios, plus engaging descriptions of "masters of connection" -- like famed National Public Radio interviewer Terry Gross -- doing what they do. There is always a bridge. The Art of Connecting shows how to find it -- every time."
